About this place

This is the premier campground in the scenic high desert of the Crooked River National Grassland, and offers the most amenities to visitors. Located on the eastern shore of; Haystack Reservoir; and surrounded by native vegetation including sage brush and juniper trees, you can catch glimpses of the Three Sisters in the distance. ; On hot summer days you can cool off in the water, or if you 're getting hungry cast a line and you may get a bite. ; There are nearby trails to accommodate hikers and mountain bikers as well. ; Whatever your pleasure on the grassland, Haystack Reservoir is a great place to camp. How do I get to Haystack East Shore Campground?

From Madras, Oregon: Travel south on Highway 97. Exit Jericho Lane and head east for approximately 1.25 miles. Turn right onto Springer Road (Forest Service Road 7130/ Forest Service Road 96) then proceed approximately 2.5 miles (you will pass West Shore and South Shore Campgrounds). Turn left onto Forest Service Road 9605. Haystack Campground will be on the left and the road will end at the day use area. From Prineville, Oregon: Travel north on Highway 26. Exit Laurel Lane (Forest Service Road 96) and head west for approximately 4 miles. Turn right onto Springer Road (Forest Service Road 7130/ Forest Service Road 96) and proceed approximately 1.5 miles. Turn right onto Forest Service Road 9605. Haystack Campground will be on the left and the road will end at the day use area.

What are the rules at Haystack East Shore Campground?

There is a 14 day stay limit on all National Grassland and US Forest Service land including but not limited to campgrounds and other developed facilities.
