Dead Swede Campground and the nearby Dead Swede Picnic Ground, are named for the gentleman whose grave is located there. The campground is located east of U.S. Highway 14, the Bighorn Scenic Byway. It's proximity to the South Tongue River makes it a popular area for anglers.

No. Dead Swede Campground charges a fee. It is managed by the USFS. Sites are reservable through recreation.gov.
From Dayton, WY, take US 14 west for about 40.2 miles to Tie Flume/Dead Swede and Forest System Road (FSR) 26 signs. Turn left onto FSR 26 and go another 4.7 miles. Campground is on the left.
14 day stay limit The campground offers several single-family sites, two of which are accessible, each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. Accessible vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection are provided.
