About this place
Sherando Lake Recreation Area is known locally as the jewel of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Families enjoy picnicking in this shaded and woody area, while relaxing on the sandy beach of a 25-acre spring-fed lake. Access to multiple trailheads and rustic architecture provide numerous points of interest for families to enjoy. The Group Camping area is designated for tent camping only. There are five distinct campsites suitable for up to 15 campers each. When all five campsites are occupied by a single group, the Group Size Limit is 75 people. A large grassy common space in the middle of the Group Camp Area is a great place to gather or organize pick up ball games.

How do I get to Sherando Lake Group Campground?
Off Interstate 64, take exit 96. Turn south onto State Route 624 and continue to community of Lyndhurst. At this point the road name and number changes. Continue south on State Route 664 (Mt. Torry Road). Entrance to Sherando Lake Recreation Area is approximately 10 miles from I-64 on the right side of Mt. Torry Road.
