Camp HappyLand (Cabin Camp 5) is the only cabin camp open year-round. This camp offers the largest capacity (205 in summer, 104 in winter). Dormitory style buildings with heating were added to the camp in the 1960s allowing the camp to stay open in the winter at a limited capacity (104 people). Camp HappyLand is also the only cabin camp with a large outdoor pavilion. It is set up in two units with cabins that sleeps 2 to 4 people and larger dorm buildings that sleep 24.

How do I get to Camp HappyLand (Cabin Camp 5)?
GPS apps don’t always provide accurate directions to the cabin camps so follow these directions instead. From North & South: Use Interstate 95. Take exit 150. Continue west on Joplin Road for 5 miles. Turn right on Mawavi Road. From West: From the community of Independent Hill, use Joplin Road Highway 619 to approach the camp. Turn left at Mawavi Road. Mawavi Road is gravelled. In one-eighth of a mile, the road comes to a T intersection. Turn right to reach Cabin Camp 5. Drive 1/4 mile to the parking.
What is the weather like at Camp HappyLand (Cabin Camp 5)?
Prince William Forest Park experiences all four seasons. Spring and fall are generally comfortable with precipitation possible. Summers can be hot and humid with average temperatures in the high 80s and with sudden thunderstorms possible. July and August are the hottest months. Winters can be cold with average temperatures in the winter of 41 degrees with variable precipitation. The main park roads can close due to snowy conditions, though cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing are permitted.
What are the rules at Camp HappyLand (Cabin Camp 5)?
Reminder that the check-in time is 3:00 pm and the check-out time is 1:00 pm. The Permitee must be present for the check-in and check-out process. All pets are prohibited in the cabin camp area, cabins and camp buildings (except service animals). Smoking is not permitted in any of the cabins or buildings. Cabins should be swept and free of trash upon departure. Quiet hours are between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Please be considerate of fellow campers. Keep your cabin area and the comfort stations free of trash and personal belongings. Please recycle using the proper container located within the camp. To prevent animal and pest problems, please place trash in provided covered trash receptacles or carry it out with you. Fires are not permitted outside of the provided grills and fireplaces in the lodge building. Camping tents, screen tents or other structures are NOT permitted in the cabin camp
