About this place

Tucked into a tall stand of fir trees along Jackson Creek, this Black Canyon Campground has three sites with picnic tables and fire rings. Take a dip with nearby swimming access. Visitors who stay at this campground can explore nearby popular recreation site, the World's Tallest Sugar Pine Tree. There are no services at this campground. Do your part by following the principles of Leave No Trace and pack out all garbage.

Yes. Black Canyon Campground is free to use. It is managed by the USFS.

How do I get to Black Canyon Campground?

From Canyonville, OR, (exit 98), take a left on to NW 1st Street. At the stop sign turn right onto Main St. In two blocks turn left on to SE 3rd St/OR-227, Tiller Trail Hwy. Follow OR-227 approximately 23 miles until you reach the town of Tiller. From Tiller turn left (before crossing the bridge), on to Douglas County Road #46, which becomes South Umpqua Road, Forest Service (FS) Road #28. Drive approximately 5 miles to the 29 Road and turn right going up Jackson Creek. Follow the 29 Road approximately 15 miles up river. The campground is signed.
