About this place

Canyon Creek cabin was built in 1930 as a guard station where rangers could stay when they were working in this area. Located in the middle of an old mining district, there are several historic sites that can be explored on foot or bybike nearby. A variety of trails exist in the area, allowing opportunities to view abundant wildlife. The cabin is in a quaint location for guests to enjoy the scenic Pioneer Mountains in southwestern Montana.Accessible by a four-wheel drive or high clearance vehicle, depending on conditions. Snowmobiles, skis or snowshoes may be necessary during the months between December and April each year. Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities.

How do I get to Canyon Creek Cabin?

The cabin is located about 13 miles west of Melrose, Montana. From Melrose take Trapper Creek Road for about 5.5 miles. Continue on Canyon Creek Road for approximately 7 miles. Follow the signs to the cabin. It is located about 1/2 miles from the turnoff. Road conditions can be an issue. 4-wheel drive is recommended. Winter access may require snowmobiles, cross country skis or snowshoes for 6 or more miles. Please call ahead for specific road conditions.
