The elevation is 10,500 feet, and visitors should plan for cold temperatures at night. Some campsites are located near the south fork of the Little Arkansas River. Opening and closing dates are weather dependent.After Labor Day, hosts and water may not be available.

No. Monarch Park Campground charges a fee. It is managed by the USFS. Sites are reservable through recreation.gov.
From Poncha Springs travel west on Highway 50 for about 15 miles, then south on County Road 231 to the Monarch Park Campground.
Maximum 8 persons per site: 2 tents and 2 vehicles or 1 recreation vehicle (RV). Maximum RV length is 45 ft. Dogs must be leashed at all times. No discharge of firearms or fireworks. Only licensed vehicles can operate inside campground. Potable water: Limited water available - no water hookups. No showers.
