Overview This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature. If this option is available, you will need to first download the free Recreation.gov mobile app https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service. Facilities Located southwest of Denver at an elevation of 7,500 feet, Green Mountain Campground offers a wonderful opportunity for individuals or families to enjoy the great outdoors. South Fork Buffalo Creek runs through the campground and there are numerous nonmotorized, multi-use trails nearby. Green Mountain Campground is far enough away from town, but still close enough that the drive to and from home is an enjoyable getaway. Tent camping only. All dates are weather dependent. Visitors may expect full-service Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. The area also has an extended season when services such as water, trash or a host may not be available during the fall/winter/spring. Host is located down the road at Buffalo Campground. No. Green Mountain Campground charges a fee. It is managed by the USFS. Sites are reservable through recreation.gov.
From U.S. Highway 285 turn south at Pine Junction on to Jefferson County Road 126 for 13.5 miles to Forest Service Road 550. Travel west for 5.5 miles. Stay left for another 2.5 miles. Green Mountain campground will be on the left.
The following restrictions apply to this campground : Maximum 8 persons per site, 2 tents and 2 vehicles or 1 recreation vehicle. Dogs must be leashed at all times. No discharge of firearms or fireworks. Only licensed vehicles can operate inside campground. Camping is NOT ALLOWED behind a LOCKED GATE. Note: Green Mountain Campground is open to TENTS ONLY.
