Ferris Camping Area is four miles upstream from Cabin Canyon along Forest Rd. 504. This barrier-free facility has 2 sites for camping and picnicking. It is 3.5 miles downstream of McPhee Dam and popular with fly fishermen (catch-and-release only). The historic Lone Dome Ranger Station site is nearby.

How do I get to Ferris Camping Area?

From Dove Creek, travel south on US 491 for 10 miles to County Road R. Turn left (east) on Cty R. Travel east on Cty R for 2.9 miles to County Road 16. Turn (right) south on Cty 16 and travel 1.3 miles to County Road S. Turn left (east) on Cty S and travel for 1.3 miles crossing the Dolores River to the junction with NFSR 504. Continue straight (southeast) on NFSR 504 following the Dolores River upstream for 7.5 miles to the camping area site.
