Black Bear Cabin was built in the 1930s as part of the historic Mesa Lakes Ranger Station and is now available for public rental. This rustic, one-bedroom cabin will sleep five, with electricity and potable water. The cabin is located in the Mesa Lakes Recreation Area, with another rental cabin, and is convenient to many recreation opportunities.

No. Black Bear Cabin charges a fee. It is managed by the USFS. Sites are reservable through fs.usda.gov.
From Mesa, CO, take Highway 65 south 12.8 miles to Jumbo Campground. Go past the campground into the Mesa Lakes Day-Use Area, and then veer right and go 0.1 miles to a gate with a combination lock. BEFORE LEAVING HOME, call the Grand Valley Ranger District (970-242-8211, Mon-Fri, 8am to 4pm) for the combination. Secure the gate and drive another 0.1 miles to the cabin.
