The historic Red River Ranger Station closed in 1998 when Red River and Elk City Ranger Districts combined operations and moved to Elk City. Although the site continues to house government employees, the office remains vacant until needed to house fire camps during wildfire season. Two information kiosks can be found in the parking lot. Just past the ranger station is a toilet, with an RV dump and potable water available from late-spring to late-fall.
