Adjacent to; the northern border of the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness, this campground offers opportunities for stream fishing, hiking, hunting, and Wilderness access. From the campground Slide Connector Trail #386 starts at the campground. Set amongst ponderosa pine trees along Slide Creek this campground is a only 1.5 miles from Strawberry Campground and the Strawberry Basin Trailhead.

Yes. Slide Creek Campground is free to use. It is managed by the USFS.
From Prairie City, OR., turn onto South Main Street. Follow South Main Street to the junction with Bridge Street. Turn left onto Bridge Street, on the right the second turn will be Bridge Street again, turn onto Bridge Street. Follow Bridge Street to the city limits, the road then becomes County Road 60 continue on County Road 60 for approximately 7 miles the road then becomes Forest Road 6001. Continue on Forest Road 6001 for approximately 1 mile, the campground will be on the left.
This trail is not in the wilderness, however the trail leading from this campground travels into the wilderness. Wilderness Regulations apply. Motorized and mountain bike use prohibited.
