About this place

This campground is located near China Hat, a tall (6,573 ft. elevation), cone-shaped formation. The campground is shaded by lodgepole and ponderosa pine trees and lies in the heart of the East Fort Rock OHV Trail System. This campground is also a popular area for hunters during deer season. The campground has 13 designated campsites, with picnic tables and fire rings. There are 2 areas of adjoining sites that will accommodate small groups and large RVs. A vault toilet is located within the campground. China Hat Campground is operated and maintained for your enjoyment by Central Oregon Combined OHV Operations (a Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management Cooperative agreement), in partnership with Oregon Department of Parks and Recreation ATV Funds, and other user groups and volunteers.

There is access to the campground from the north or the south via Forest Road 18.From Lapine, travel 26 miles east on Forest Road 22, and then 6 miles north on Forest Road 18.From Bend, travel 22 miles east on Hwy 20, then 6 miles south on County Road 23, then 5 miles southwest on Road 25, and then 8.0 miles south on Forest Road 18
