About this place
This cozy, rustic cabin has two small rooms - a combined bedroom and living room and a kitchen. The combined living room and bedroom is furnished with a double futon and two sets of bunk beds. The kitchen is furnished with a table and chairs, and equipped with a propane appliances (cook stove, refrigerator and oven), as well as utensils for cooking and eating. The cabin has a propane fireplace for heating and propane lights. A vault toilet and garage are located near the cabin. Water is available from an outside hand pump, and there is a fire ring and picnic table for outdoor dining. Cell phone coverage is limited in the area. The cabin is popular during the winter months with cross-country skiers and snowmobilers as designated groomed snowmobile routes are in the vicinity. Other activities include hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and riding OHVs. The Guard Station, a historical site constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), is located adjacent to the scenic North Fork Burnt River and is only a couple of miles from the historic Whitney area.

How do I get to Antlers Guard Station?
From Baker City, OR, travel south on State Highway 7 to County Road 529 approximately 35 miles; Turn south at the old Whitney town site. Follow County 529 approximately 2 miles along the North Fork of the Burnt River. From John Day, OR, travel east on State Highway 26 east to Austin Junction, and turn north on State Highway 7; On State Highway 7 go to County Road 529 approximately 15 miles. Turn south at the old Whitney town site. Follow County Road 529 approximately 2 miles along the North Fork of the Burnt River. During the winter, County Road 529/535 is intermittently plowed. Snow can get deep in the driveway and high clearance vehicles, chains, or shovels are recommended.
