Bald Mountain Lookout allows its visitors to enjoy spectacular sunrises and sunsets, views of the honey-colored rolling hills of the Palouse, star gaze and see wildlife such as bald eagles, moose, elk and even bear. Rising 50' from the ground, at 5,334' above sea level, this rustic getaway can be reached by high clearance vehicles (no trailers), and comes equipped with heat, a cook stove and sleeps up to four guests comfortably.

No. Bald Mountain Lookout charges a fee. It is managed by the USFS. Sites are reservable through recreation.gov.
From Potlatch travel North on Hwy on 6, Scenic White Pine Drive for 22 miles. Turn right on Forest Road 377, the Palouse Divide Road. This is a single lane, dirt surface road that is rarely graded and slippery when wet. Follow FR 377 for approximately 8 miles to the junction with FR 377A. Turn on FR 377A and climb for 1 mile to Bald Mountain Lookout. This last mile of road is rough and has many water bars, so travel is slow.
