About this place
These 30 designated sites are located are spread out and scattered along Forest Service Road 900. Each site offers views of the water and of the Flat Tops and are designated by a numbered post. Each site has its own picnic table and permanent fire grate. Be prepared as these sites can be windy, and do not provide much shade or tree coverings. How do I get to Bear River Designated Dispersed?
Directions from Yampa, CO: Take County Rd 7 (Behind Montgomery s Grocery store) for approximately 7 miles. At mile 7, the road becomes gravel and you have now entered the forest and it becomes Forest Service Road 900. Follow for approximately another 3 miles where you will begin to see designated sites along the road. (At 17 miles the road will come to a dead end which is also where the main hiking trailhead begins (Stillwater Reservoir) The entire last 13 miles of the 17 mile stretch offers sites to camp at. Note: This roads condition is very wash-board, however no high clearance or 4WD is needed.
