Packsaddle Campground is surrounded by pine and fir trees with a view of the Sierra Buttes and alpine lakes. It is located 2.5 miles west of Gold Lake Highway on Packer Lake Road. There are 14 developed sites with piped water and vault toilets. Views of open meadows with wildflowers overlooking a ravine with mountains in the background. Views of granitic ridges and glacially serrated rock outcroppings. Campground has corrals and space for stock trailers.

No. Packsaddle Campground charges a fee. It is managed by the USFS. Sites are reservable through recreation.gov.
From Hwy 49 at Sierra City: Drive 4 1/2 miles to Bassett 's Station. Turn left on Gold Lake Hwy. Continue for 1/2 mile to Packer Lake Road and turn left. Drive 2 1/2 miles to reach campground. From 89 N to 49 N: Drive 13 miles headed west to Bassett 's Station. Turn right on Gold Lake Hwy. Continue for 1/2 mile to Packer Lake Road and turn lefeet. Drive 2 1/2 miles to reach campground.
Camping outside designated campground is prohibited in this area
