Apache Lake Marina is located off the historic Apache Trail (State Route 88), just a few hours from Phoenix or Globe, Arizona. Services and facilities generally include a restaurant, lodging/hotel, boat slips, and more. Secluded shoreline locations provide camping away from high-use areas. Apache Lake offers an outstanding opportunity to view Desert Big Horn Sheep on the cliffs high above its northern shores. Please observe these desert animals from your boat only. Apache Lake provides magnificent scenery including views of sun-painted canyon walls and native wildlife.

Yes. Apache Lake Marina is free to use. It is managed by the USFS.
Apache Lake is formed behind Horse Mesa Dam downstream of Theodore Roosevelt Dam. From Mesa: Take State Hwy. 87 north for approximately 60 miles to the junction of State Hwy. 87 and State Hwy. 188. Turn right (east) and follow State Hwy. 188 for 33 miles until it meets State Hwy. 88. Turn right (south) onto State Hwy. 88 and drive past Roosevelt Dam. Follow unpaved State Hwy. 88 for 12 miles to FR 79/Apache Lake Marina Resort. Turn right (west) and continue to the lake. From the Globe area: Take State Hwy. 188 west for 30 miles to the junction of State Hwy. 88 and State Hwy. 188. Turn onto State Hwy. 88 past the Roosevelt Dam and continue for 12 miles to FR 79/Apache Lake Marina and Resort. Turn right (west) and continue to the lake.
Stay limit 14 days. State Hwy. 88 is a narrow winding mountain road, with a maximum vehicle length limit of 40 feet. Lake levels fluctuate rapidly because of the pump-back electrical generating system at Horse Mesa Dam. Most coves and all recreation sites are "No Wake" areas. Please use a portable potty or boat head and properly dispose of wastes. Pack it in pack it out! Rules and regulations are posted on bulletin boards. Please read and observe.
